Meanwhile, Pressman notes that “earthbound violet tones” are rising in popularity, as well. These deep shades of brown, purple, and green carry all the drama and strength that black does but feel unexpected and layered. It seems intimidating to dose your walls in electric chartreuse or forest green, but we promise the results will leave you both speechless and inspired.
Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute, explains that it’s not just that people are moving towards using bolder colors, but they are using colors in clever ways—especially in homes. “It’s all about our desire for creative expression,” Pressman says. “Understanding that our surroundings influence our mental health, many are expressing their creativity in the home as a way to enhance their feelings of joyfulness and well-being.”

Paint companies like Sherwin-Williams—who named mauve-y Redend Point their color of the year—expect to see more shades of blush popping up in the upcoming year. For some, neutrals feel a bit boring when there’s a whole world of bright colors to experiment with. C2 Paint announced Tiramisu, a coppery, midtone brown, as their color of the year which perfectly embodies this movement towards organic tones. These colors ground spaces in comfort and stability while providing a nuanced backdrop to build off of.
“Savannah Green is a great example because it has a citrusy, acidic quality that may be unexpected for a wall color, but when used in a room it creates a space that is both playful and sophisticated all at once.”
Black will never go out of style, but there’s a plethora of other shades that can bring that sense of depth and elegance into a room. As a part of their Color Trends Forecast, Benjamin Moore highlights Wenge, a deep chocolate with notes of violet and black, as a great alternative to black.Though nature still continues to inspire color trends into 2023, Pressman interestingly points out there’s increasing interest in “more earthbound natural shades linked to craft.” In particular, shades of warm brown that are reminiscent of different types of woods, minerals, and even jewels.

In earlier years, mostly before the 18 century, the color was produced as a dye, which was obtained from various plants, minerals, as well as insects. This made the dye difficult to produce, which in turn, made it difficult to come by and therefore expensive. So, if you were lucky enough to be wearing any fabrics dyed with the mauve color, you were most definitely of higher society or even royalty.Since the mallow flowers grow during the springtime, the color itself is often associated with femininity and renewal. As you go, you can adjust your colors until you reach the perfect mauve color.
This type of color combination is easy to work with. Monochromatic means using a single color, but all the colors are slightly different and can vary from light mauve colors to darker mauve colors. This type of mauve color palette will always look clean and has a soothing effect.

In my opinion, White Dove is one, if not my favorite white color from Benjamin Moore. The slight warmth along with that hint of gray in it makes it easy to work with and pair with many other colors.White Dove OC-17 Satin or Semi-Gloss oil-based will turn yellow very quickly (2-4 weeeks). We are have to repaint the trim in our entire house with the latex version, that does not turn yellow. Walls did not turn yellow because we used latex flat. As I have already mentioned, white paint colors are not all created equally. I know it still sounds silly, but white paint colors are pretty dang complicated. I painted my kitchen cabinets white dove and I was afraid it would show too yellow since I have a north facing kitchen with no direct light, and my kitchen lights have a tint of yellow in the glass, but I think it’s just perfect. It doesn’t look yellow to me, which is what I did not want. Very happy with it. I also painted my bathroom walls, and I LOVE it in there. It has just one small window facing east, but no direct light due to my patio roof, but it made a huge difference in how bright the room is, and doesn’t show yellow at all. I also used Chantilly lace on my patio structural beams and it’s a beautiful crisp white.
