I wouldn’t pay over MSRP for any auto, that’s just pure Greed. Paying over MSRP is like throwing meat to a shark then jumping in after condoning the greed.Nobody wants to pay over MSRP. I spoke to one of the largest dealers, who said they never charge over MSRP. However, they said they stopped taking names for their waiting list because it’s over 3 years long, based on current production. Dealer suggested I get on a waiting list for a C9, when they start taking names. If Chevy didn’t want dealers to charge over MSRP, all they have to do is tell dealers their allocations will be cut.

Engineers spent two years crafting a distinctive, rich exhaust tone unlike anything ever heard from a Corvette.

The Corvette C8.R shined during IMSA’s 2020 sports car championship series, capturing six victories and seven pole positions, and setting the fastest class race laps in six events. During the 2020 series, Chevrolet won the GT Manufacturers title – its 13th since 2001. Jordan Taylor and Antonio Garcia and the No. 3 Corvette C8.R crew won the GTLM Drivers and Team championships. Designers pulled out the fenders in the front and rear to cover the wider tire tread, which are 30 mm front and 40 mm rear wider than the Corvette Stingray. These extensions give the Corvette Z06 a wider, lower appearance further emphasized by a unique rear fascia that also features centered floating exhaust bezels. This floating design was key to the precise tuning in the exhaust note. The wider rear fender also allows for the larger air intakes required for the car’s cooling. A version of the LT6 has powered the C8.R race cars since 2019, and the rigors of endurance road racing helped engineers refine the engine’s performance and durability.

Speaking of, the wait list for the 2023 Corvette could put off several potential buyers, if the insane dealer markups hasn’t already done so. For a Corvette customer lucky enough to book one, the wait of 12-18 months (or more) to take delivery of a new C8 will be excruciatingly long. While build and delivery times of the C8 Corvette is only 6-8 weeks, it seems the long wait comes from actually placing the order for one and getting an allotment.The second option is to look at the used C8 Corvette market, which is coming down off a high. This means Corvette prices are somewhat back to where they should be. Though, Corvette C8 owners flipping their cars for profit is definitely still a thing, even though GM voids the powertrain warranty if a car is sold within the first six months. Which is strange as some Corvette Z06 engines have been reported to blow up with a handful of miles on the clock.

Going by the official statement, a supply chain issue has caused production of the 2023 Corvette to cease for a week at GM’s plant in Kentucky. The Bowling Green Assembly is the only plant in the world to build Corvettes, and over a million ‘Vettes have rolled out its doors since it opened in 1981.
