Does Pulp Riot work better on wet or dry hair?
Proper Application Pulp Riot should be applied to clean dry hair. Care should be taken to make sure the hair is fully saturated. No developer should be used.
There are many elements that make up a great semi-permanent hair dye; vibrant colours, long-lasting effects, lots of beautiful tones to suit your taste, a non-drying formula, and much more. One element that is particularly important to us at Ethan Thomas Collection is whether the hair product is vegan, cruelty free, and ethically produced. Thankfully many hair dye brands prioritise these values, including Pulp Riot, Manic Panic, and Pigment AF, who all also boast ammonia-free dyes with no harsh chemicals.

Bottle size is always a consideration, as you tend to get more bang for your buck. Manic Panic is a respected brand but the price tag reflects that, and it comes in smaller tubs of 4 fl oz, the same size as Pulp Riot. Pigment AF is very affordable and arrives in bottles almost twice the size of both other brands at 6.3 fl oz – perfect for maintaining your hair colour for longer.A vital element to consider when choosing a semi permanent hair dye is the quality of the fade; all these dyes should start as deep tones that fade out into subtle shades and gentler pastel colours as they slowly wash out of your hair. The long-lasting quality of Pigment AF makes for a gradual fade that works with your existing hair colour. Manic Panic is known for lasting for fewer washes than Pigment AF, while Pulp Riot sits in the middle with a good track record in fading true to tone.

Meet Jessica, she is what we refer to as a ‘True Blood’. Born into the Chumba Hair family from her very beginning of her career she has lived a closeted life with the walls of our Hair Asylum. All that has resulted in a freak hairstylist full of Chumba magic hair tricks and is crazy good in her skill sets.
The hair needs to be pre-lightened usually to a light blonde which can leave the hair feeling dry or damaged so having a semi permanent colour that has a conditioner base really helps repair the hair.

I know a lot of my client base loves to change their bright colours and having a range that I can be confident in removing makes it an obvious first choice when i’m going for unnatural colours.
Pulp Riot has evolved into a fully fledged colour brand now in 2020 with a huge range of products from permanent colour to bleach and styling products. In the last few years people have been embracing more expressive hair colours, they are becoming more of a norm which is extremely exciting for hairdressers.

This is true of most unnatural hair colours. This means that you need to have a blonde base for these colours to really pack the punch they were intended to have.
I have found with Pulp Riot that one of its best features is that it fades true to tone which means that it’s not going to change colour when it fades, it’s just going to become a lighter version of what you started with.

Is Pulp Riot permanent?
FULL RANGE PERMANENT COLOR LINE Consistency designed for modern techniques and leaves the hair highly moisturized and shiny.
A true semi-permanent colour is usually a conditioner base colour or a stain which means it sits on the outside of the hair shaft and does not penetrate the hair cuticle.

They started off with a semi-permanent colour range with 16 shades that propelled the brand into a must have product around the world for hairdressers. We got the low down on everything Pulp Riot from the beginning of the company to the best way to use this incredible product as well as some amazing new colour combos that I can’t wait to put to test in the salon.

Having a product such as Pulp Riot is a game changer. Being a conditioner based product is hugely beneficial for the quality of the hair when doing such extensive colour work.As someone who has had almost every unnatural hair colour and now as a hairdresser getting to give my clients their dream hair, fadage is a huge concern when you have coloured hair but especially with unnatural colours.

Pulp Riot is for you if you like to change your colour regularly, if you enjoy a fade out from your colour and if you want to experiment with lots of unique colour combos.
