The drive-on beach allows for parking at the dune-side only. Traffic is one-way driving east. (On major holidays and weekends or during very high tide, the Chief of Police may determine that a temporary beach closure is necessary.)Camping is not permitted on the beach within the Village of Surfside Beach boundaries. Camping is permitted on the county beach located east of the city limits at Beach Access Entrance 1, located about 4.0 miles east of Highway 332 on County Road 257 (Bluewater Highway). All-terrain vehicles are not allowed on the beach. Any vehicles that are not street-licensed are not legal. Licensed and insured golf carts are permitted on the drive-on beach only. Drivers of golf carts must possess a driver’s license. City, state, and federal laws protect the dunes. Dunes are strictly off-limits to both pedestrians and vehicles. Horses are not allowed on the beach from May 15 through September 15. Horses are allowed on the beach during weekends from April 1 through May 15 and September 15 through October 31. Horses are allowed on the beach every day from November 1 through March 31.

Owners can apply for golf cart permits between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The golf cart registration application will soon be available online at the Galveston Police Department’s website. Additionally, applications can be obtained from any Galveston police officer. Golf cart owners will need to provide the following information to register their carts: 1) Name and address of the Applicant owner. 2) Location where the vehicle is regularly stored overnight. 3) Model, make, name and golf cart identification number. 4) Current driver’s license. 5) Proof of financial responsibility. Each registered golf cart will be issued a registration permit decal that must be clearly displayed on the cart’s right front panel (driver’s side). North Myrtle Beach prohibits tents from May 15 to Sept 15. Only umbrellas with a center pole no larger than 7′ 6″ in height and a circular shade no greater than 9′ in diameter are allowed.

Found at the southernmost end of the Grand Strand, Pawleys Island is one of the most historic resort communities on the east coast. Pawleys Island is proudly referred to as “arrogantly shabby,” as residents revel in its simple charms and natural beauty. The City of Myrtle Beach’s regulations restrict the use of tents and other shading devices, excluding umbrellas and small toddler tents, from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Tents and canopies are allowed after Labor Day and until Memorial Day. Beach tents can be placed above the high tide line, should not exceed 12′ by 12′ and must not impede any lifeguard’s line of sight.
Founded more than a century ago, the small town of Aynor is located 35 miles inland on Highway 501.
