I am a big fan of Innisfree products and a month back got this amazing Cherry blossom tone up cream. It’s effect, feel and mid fragrance is unbelievable, my skin feels great and pampered after using it. It’s indeed a miracle for my skin :)A fatty alcohol (the non-drying type with a long oil loving chain of 22 carbon atoms) that is used to increase the viscosity of the formula and it also helps the oily and the watery parts to stay nicely mixed together (called emulsion stabilizing).Good old water, aka H2O. The most common skincare ingredient of all. You can usually find it right in the very first spot of the ingredient list, meaning it’s the biggest thing out of all the stuff that makes up the product.
Chemically speaking, it is the attachment of a glycerin molecule to the fatty acid called stearic acid. It can be produced from most vegetable oils (in oils three fatty acid molecules are attached to glycerin instead of just one like here) in a pretty simple, “green” process that is similar to soap making. It’s readily biodegradable.
It’s pretty much the current IT-preservative. It’s safe and gentle, but even more importantly, it’s not a feared-by-everyone-mostly-without-scientific-reason paraben.
Bottom line: Beta-glucan is a great ingredient, especially for sensitive or damaged skin. It soothes, moisturizes, and has some anti-aging magic properties. The bottom line is that the above info is from the manufacturer (and we could not find any relevant independent research) so obviously take it with a grain of salt. But Biosaccharide Gum-1 does look as an interesting and promising ingredient that’s why it earned our goodie rating.Touch: our fermented sugar is not only good to the skin, but it also feels great on the skin. It gives a nice “soft touch” feeling and makes the products pleasant to use.Super common little helper ingredient that helps products to remain nice and stable for a longer time. It does so by neutralizing the metal ions in the formula (that usually get into there from water) that would otherwise cause some not so nice changes.
Do Koreans use Innisfree?
As the #1 beauty brand in Korea, innisfree is at the forefront of the global movement towards K-Beauty. solutions that help preserve skin’s youthful glow. The Korean approach to beauty is all about prevention.
It’s quite a multi-tasker: can be used to improve skin moisturization, as a solvent, to boost preservative efficacy or to influence the sensory properties of the end formula. One more thing: the water used in cosmetics is purified and deionized (it means that almost all of the mineral ions inside it is removed). Like this, the products can stay more stable over time.
Does olive cream lighten skin?
Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) has only very slight skin-lightening effects. It doesn’t reduce melanin or increase skin cell exfoliation. However, it may help block damage and pigmentation from the sun. It may also help reduce skin redness and wrinkles.
An odorless and colorless emollient ester (cetyl alcohol + ethylhexanoic acid) that gives a velvety and silky feel to the skin. It has great spreadability and a non-oily feel. It’s a popular ingredient in makeup removers.
Probably the most common silicone of all. It is a polymer (created from repeating subunits) molecule and has different molecular weight and thus different viscosity versions from water-light to thick liquid. It’s a common little helper ingredient that helps water and oil to mix together. Also, it can help to increase the solubility of some other ingredients in the formula.According to the manufacturer it’s a “S.M.A.R.T.” sugar: it has Soothing, Moisturizing, Anti-aging, Restructuring and Touch properties. Let’s look at them quickly one by one.
What is Innisfree Olive real?
It is a deeply hydrating cleansing foam that forms a rich, thick lather to completely remove makeup residue and dirt inside pores. Rich bubbles lift away makeup and leave skin feeling moisturised after cleansing.
It’s often paired with glyceryl stearate – the two together form a super effective emulsifier duo that’s salt and acid tolerant and works over a wide pH range. It also gives a “pleasing product aesthetics”, so no wonder it’s popular.Propanediol is a natural alternative for the often used and often bad-mouthed propylene glycol. It’s produced sustainably from corn sugar and it’s Ecocert approved.
Other than having a good safety profile and being quite gentle to the skin it has some other advantages too. It can be used in many types of formulations as it has great thermal stability (can be heated up to 85°C) and works on a wide range of pH levels (ph 3-10).
You probably know olive oil from the kitchen as a great and healthy option for salad dressing but it’s also a great and healthy option to moisturize and nourish the skin, especially if it’s on the dry side. The emollient plant oil coming from the seeds of the white flowering plant called meadowfoam. Meadowfoam Oil has a unique fatty acid composition with 95% of it being long chain fatty acids (eicosenoic acid C20:1 – 61%, docosenoic acid C22:1 – 16% and docosadienoic acid C22:2 – 18%) that make the oil extraordinarily stable. It also contains antioxidant components such as vitamin E as well as phytosterols.
Resurfacing: The sirtuin-1 stimulation also results in quicker cell renewal – something that happens anyway but slows down as we age. And the quicker cell renewal is good because it helps the regeneration of the barrier function. That is especially nice for fragile, sensitive skin. Also, if your skin is sensitive, fragrance is again not your best friend. It’s the number one cause of contact allergy to cosmetics. It’s definitely a smart thing to avoid with sensitive skin (and fragrance of any type – natural is just as allergic as synthetic, if not worse!).But it’s not only a simple emollient, it regenerates and soothes the skin, protects it from external factors (such as UV rays or wind) and is also rich in antioxidants (among others vitamin A, E, F, quercetin and epigallocatechin gallate). If you are looking for rich emollient benefits + more, shea is hard to beat.
Apart from Meadowfoam Oil’s crazy stability, the oil is described as non-greasy, rapidly absorbed and having a similar skin feel to more often used jojoba oil. The oil is ideal for products where a soft, smooth, silky feel is required whether it be on skin or hair.
A little helper ingredient that can be a thickener, a humectant, a foam booster, an adhesion promoter and a filler. It’s a blend of polysaccharides that helps to moisturize and soften the skin. Exactly what it sounds: nice smelling stuff put into cosmetic products so that the end product also smells nice. Fragrance in the US and parfum in the EU is a generic term on the ingredient list that is made up of 30 to 50 chemicals on average (but it can have as much as 200 components!). According to famous dermatologist, Leslie Baumann while tocopheryl acetate is more stable and has a longer shelf life, it’s also more poorly absorbed by the skin and may not have the same awesome photoprotective effects as pure Vit E.
A handy helper ingredient that helps water and oil to mix nicely together, aka emulsifier. It is especially recommended for protective, baby care and general purpose emollient creams.
A vegetable wax coming from the leaves of the Brazilian tropical palm tree, Copernicia cerifera. Similar to other waxes, it is used to stabilize and give body to products, or to keep stick type formulas solid. It is the hardest natural wax with a high melting point (around 85C) and high gloss making it a great wax choice for lip products.
As for skincare, it makes the skin silky smooth, creates a subtle gloss and forms a protective barrier (aka occlusive). Also, works well to fill in fine lines and wrinkles and give skin a plump look (of course that is only temporary, but still, it’s nice). There are also scar treatment gels out there using dimethicone as their base ingredient. It helps to soften scars and increase their elasticity.
An extremely common multitasker ingredient that gives your skin a nice soft feel (emollient) and gives body to creams and lotions. It also helps to stabilize oil-water mixes (emulsions), though it does not function as an emulsifier in itself. Its typical use level in most cream type formulas is 2-3%.
Anti-aging: According to ex-vivo tests (meaning not on humans, so do not trust it too much) Biosaccharide Gum-1 can stimulate a protein in our skin called sirtuin-1. This is supposed to help our skin cells to live longer, and function better.Another advantage of squalane is that it is pretty much compatible with all skin types and skin conditions. It is excellent for acne-prone skin and safe to use even if you have fungi-related skin issues, like seborrhea or fungal acne.
As for hair care, it is a non-volatile silicone meaning that it stays on the hair rather than evaporates from it and smoothes the hair like no other thing. Depending on your hair type, it can be a bit difficult to wash out and might cause some build-up (btw, this is not true to all silicones, only the non-volatile types). It’s the most commonly used version of pure vitamin E in cosmetics. You can read all about the pure form here. This one is the so-called esterified version.
Is olive cream good for your face?
“Olive oil is an excellent skin moisturizer, especially when applied to wet skin when the pores are open, and can act as a second skin barrier for dry, cracked skin in the winter.”
BG’s main job is usually to be a solvent for the other ingredients. Other tasks include helping the product to absorb faster and deeper into the skin (penetration enhancer), making the product spread nicely over the skin (slip agent), and attracting water (humectant) into the skin.Soothing: the manufacturer tested out the soothing effect in vivo (meaning on humans that is always a good thing!) by measuring how 3% Biosaccharide Gum-1 decreased the tingling sensation caused by 10% lactic acid. The result was good: the tingling was decreased by 47%.
It’s not something new: it was introduced around 1950 and today it can be used up to 1% worldwide. It can be found in nature – in green tea – but the version used in cosmetics is synthetic.
It’s an ingredient whose safety hasn’t been questioned so far by anyone (at least not that we know about). BG is approved by Ecocert and is also used enthusiastically in natural products. BTW, it’s also a food additive.
If you have spotted ethylhexylglycerin on the ingredient list, most probably you will see there also the current IT-preservative, phenoxyethanol. They are good friends because ethylhexylglycerin can boost the effectiveness of phenoxyethanol (and other preservatives) and as an added bonus it feels nice on the skin too.
Similar to other emollient plant oils, it’s loaded with nourishing fatty acids: oleic is the main component (55-83%), and also contains linoleic (3.5-20%) and palmitic acids (7-20%). It also contains antioxidant polyphenols, tocopherols (types of vitamin E) and carotenoids and it’s one of the best plant sources of skin-identical emollient, Squalene.
A vegetable-based emulsifier that helps the oily and watery parts of the formula to mix nicely together. It is compatible with a bunch of cosmetic oils as well as active ingredients and its specialty is creating emulsions with super high heat and freeze stability (from -25 °C and +50 °C).
It occurs naturally in certain fish and plant oils (e.g. olive), and in the sebum (the oily stuff our skin produces) of the human skin. As f.c. puts it in his awesome blog post, squalane’s main things are “emolliency, surface occlusion, and TEWL prevention all with extreme cosmetic elegance”. In other words, it’s a superb moisturizer that makes your skin nice and smooth, without being heavy or greasy.
Moisturizing: Compared to famous hyaluronic acid, it turns out that the two are great together. HA has a quicker effect and provides more instant hydration (much more hydration was measured after 1h of application), while our nice sugar has a somewhat delayed effect demonstrating stronger hydration after 3h of application. After 8 hours both had similar moisturizing effect.
A bio-mimetic ceramide molecule that is claimed to be similarly effective as ceramide 3 at moisturizing the skin and helping the barrier function. We have more about ceramides here.
Putting it on your face also does a bunch of good things: it‘s shown to have intensive skin repairing & wound healing properties, it’s a mild antioxidant, a great skin soother, and moisturizer, and it even shows promising anti-aging benefits. It’s a so-called fatty alcohol, a mix of cetyl and stearyl alcohol, other two emollient fatty alcohols. Though chemically speaking, it is alcohol (as in, it has an -OH group in its molecule), its properties are totally different from the properties of low molecular weight or drying alcohols such as denat. alcohol. Fatty alcohols have a long oil-soluble (and thus emollient) tail part that makes them absolutely non-drying and non-irritating and are totally ok for the skin.
What is Olive real power cream?
A moisturizing cream with olive power activator™ – vitamin e, tocopherol, and oleic acid – that provides powerful moisturization for dry skin to improve skin suppleness and create a moisture barrier.
A 100% plant derived, natural (Ecocert approved) multi-functional ingredient that has emollient and moisturizing properties, can work as a co-emulsifier (meaning that next to other emulsifiers it can help water and oil to mix) and even more importantly has a strong antimicrobial activity. It seems to us that squalane is in fashion and there is a reason for it. Chemically speaking, it is a saturated (no double bonds) hydrocarbon (a molecule consisting only of carbon and hydrogen), meaning that it’s a nice and stable oily liquid with a long shelf life. The manufacturer of the ingredient did a published study with 27 people and examined the effect of 0.1% beta-glucan. They found that despite the large molecular size the smaller factions of beta-glucan penetrate into the skin, even into the dermis (the middle layer of the skin where wrinkles form). After 8 weeks there was a significant reduction of wrinkle depth and height and skin roughness has also improved greatly.
It usually comes to the formula as part of a thickener-emulsifier trio paired with Polyisobutene and Polysorbate 20. The three togeather have excellent thickening properties with remarkable emulsifying-stabilising abilities. They also have a nice silicone feel with glide-on spreading.
A polymer (big molecule from repeated subunits) that’s used as a gloss improver for lipsticks and lipglosses. Its stickiness also helps lip products to stay on longer.
Beta-Glucan is a nice big molecule composed of many smaller sugar molecules (called polysaccharide). It’s in the cell walls of yeast, some mushrooms, seaweeds, and cereals.Unless you live under a rock you must have heard about shea butter. It’s probably the most hyped up natural butter in skincare today. It comes from the seeds of African Shea or Karite Trees and used as a magic moisturizer and emollient.
How do you use power cream?
Warm creme between fingertips. Gently sweep over face from center out. Press both hands onto cheeks, forehead & chin. Targeted treatment.
Called the “King” Cherry Blossom, these Cherry Blossoms are native to the island of Jeju, South Korea. They have the largest flowers among Cherry Blossoms and naturally hold a very sweet fragrance. Its bloom signals Spring has come on Jeju Island.
To capture full benefits, the leaves are dried again. After removing sea salts, leaves are finally squeezed for a potent extract that helps boosts skin radiance for a glowing, clear complexion.
The leaves of the Cherry Blossom are harvested and dried, after which they are aged for three weeks in lava seawater at an optimal temperature of 39˚F.We are unable to ship this product to the counties of Maui and Hawaii starting December 2022 due to local laws prohibiting the sale and the distribution of sunscreens containing chemical UV filters.
“Pat the skin dry [post-shower] and apply several drops of olive oil to the skin, preferably at bedtime, and only on non-acne prone skin (like the hands, forearms, and legs),” says Dr. Mehr. Additionally, make sure you choose an organic, extra-virgin variety, as olives can be sprayed with pesticides, and applying these toxins to the skin is never a good idea.
And while olive oil can help heal sunburn, you certainly don’t want to use it while you’re being exposed to the sun. “Think about in the ’50s, when people would rub on baby oil and cook in the sun,” says Dr. Mehr. “Olive oil applied in the mornings without sun protection from either long-sleeve clothing or sunscreen is a recipe for sunburns and potential severe skin damage.”Ken Howe, M.D., board-certified dermatologist of Wexler Dermatology, recommends jojoba oil because the chemical structure is nearly identical to your skin’s natural sebum (i.e., the oil you produce naturally). That means it absorbs quickly, minimizes the appearance of pores, and reduces excess oil. He also recommends jojoba for its ability to soothe and moisturize, while also killing the bacteria that causes acne.
While olive oil might have some superb moisturizing properties, it can be kind of a nightmare for anyone dealing with acne. “When we talk about disorders of excessive oil production, such as acne, olive oil can be one of the worst products to apply to your skin, as it can clog pores and lead to severe acne breakouts,” explains Dr. Mehr.

Is there fake Innisfree?
The fake one has no granules, the original has it you will feel it the moment you put it on to your face. The clay on fake is brighter than the original one.
That being said, there are plenty of oils that are lighter, fast-absorbing, and favorable for most skin types (including acne-prone!), offering that added oomph of moisture without causing breakouts or sun damage.
How do you use Innisfree Olive Real Power Cream?
Scented with olives for a refreshing way to moisturize skin. [Directions] Apply an appropriate amount and gently spread over face and neck for absorption. [Caution] (1) Immediately stop using in case of skin abnormalities after use. (2) Always recap after use.
Another good choice for acne-prone skin is tea tree oil, according to Deanne Mraz Robinson, M.D., board-certified dermatologist based in Connecticut. She recommends tea tree for its natural antibacterial properties, making it a great natural remedy for active pimples and tool for preventing new breakouts. If you’re an avid skin care fan, you probably love facial oils, especially if it’s an ingredient that’s already sitting in your kitchen pantry. Case in point: olive oil has long been hailed for its topical benefits (Cleopatra was even said to have been a fan). But while a Mediterranean diet can work wonders for the skin, it’s questionable whether applying olive oil to your face is the best idea. We asked the experts for their take on whether you should (or shouldn’t) use olive oil on skin.
However, Dr, Mehr adds that using olive oil as a treatment for dark spots or hyperpigmentation is not worthwhile, despite its antioxidant properties. “This is actually a gross overestimation of its antioxidant properties, as it can lead to acne breakouts and worsen hyperpigmentation if patients use it in the morning and then are exposed to the sun, making them susceptible to more pigmentation,” she says.
The verdict on whether olive oil should be applied straight to skin is mixed. “As a general rule of thumb, olive oil is not an ideal choice as a skin-care product,” says Anna Babayan, an esthetician and owner of Anna Babayan Skincare in Boston. “Our skin does not have such enzymes to break down the molecules and allow the benefits of the olive oil to travel into the skin, and as a result, it just sits on top of the skin as a barrier layer and protects the skin from losing water.” In order for all of its amazing properties to be useful, olive oil is best ingested, says Babayan.Another great benefit of olive oil is its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Dermatologists say that the anti-inflammatory ingredients found in olive oil (triterpenes) aid in wound healing by assisting with collagen production and reducing the length of time for wound closure. And studies have shown that olive oil helps heal the skin after a sunburn.
If you do choose to use straight olive oil on your skin, Dr. Mehr recommends applying the oil within three minutes of getting out of the shower at night (i.e., NEVER before sun exposure). And make sure to massage a few drops over your usual moisturizer to seal in hydration, rather than apply it to a dry face.
Do you put tone up cream before or after moisturizer?
When do you apply such product? Usually at the last part of your skincare – if you have dry skin like I do, you may want to finish up with your favorite moisturizer then use the Tone-Up Cream as a pre-makeup routine. In layman’s term, Tone-Up cream is what I call “correctors” for the face!
“The integrity of our skin relies on the lipid barrier, which holds the individual skin cells together—when the weather is cold, we generally begin utilizing heaters, which evaporate the liquid barrier of the skin and lead to dry, cracked skin,” explains Neda Mehr, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist and medical director at Pure Dermatology Cosmetic & Hair Center in Newport Beach, Calif. “Olive oil is an excellent skin moisturizer, especially when applied to wet skin when the pores are open, and can act as a second skin barrier for dry, cracked skin in the winter.”And if you’re looking for anti-aging benefits, try maracuja oil, which is rich in essential fatty acids and vitamin C. Dr. Robinson recommends this oil for firmer, brighter, and smoother looking skin. “Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant which protects the skin from free radical damage and helps repair it,” she says.
The emollient is chock-full of monounsaturated fatty acids and antioxidants, so it has excellent moisturizing properties. If you suffer from extremely dry and/or compromised skin, olive oil might be a good option to reach for—especially during the cold winter months.
Ultimately, the only time it’s suggested to use olive oil as skin care is if you have very dry or compromised skin and to use it as a protective ingredient in your skin care. “Since people with dry skin types lack oil in their skin, the skin’s barrier layer is usually compromised,” explains Babayan. “This can lead to water loss and deep dehydration in the skin—using olive oil can create an occlusion and not allow the water to evaporate from the skin.”

Skin-lightening creams stop or slow the process through which melanocytes make melanin. Others stop melanin from being sent to the upper layer of skin. Does olive oil help with skin lightening? The short answer is yes and no. To understand what olive oil can and can’t do for a skin-lightening routine, we look at the basics of how skin lighteners work and what properties olive oil has. It’s possible for citrus to cause skin reactions in some people when combined with sun exposure. Known as phytophotodermatitis, it’s also sometimes called a “margarita burn” for the close association with lime juice.Add plenty of extra-virgin and virgin olive oil to your diet. This heart-healthy plant oil is best eaten cold as a salad dressing or dip. Olive oil has a lower smoking point than other oils and should not be used for cooking at high temperatures. Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) has only very slight skin-lightening effects. It doesn’t reduce melanin or increase skin cell exfoliation. However, it may help block damage and pigmentation from the sun. It may also help reduce skin redness and wrinkles.
