We resume our Fall schedule in September, and complete Fall league play by the end of November. We believe in taking breaks between seasons – to rest the arms, keep the passion for the sport strong, and to avoid burning out any players.Yes – we have had many players who play multiple rec/club sports. We encourage players, especially between 9 – 12 years of age, try many sports throughout the year, to see which ones they excel at and prefer – and just to have fun! When players reach 13 – 14 years of age, they seem to focus in on the 1 or 2 sports that they want to play in High School.

Irvine Diamondbacks teams play in tournaments all around the country – we’ve even sent teams representing the USA to international tournaments in Mexico!

We employ “professional coaches” – from Elite Baseball Instruction. EBI President, Joe DeMarco, and his staff of instructors are former major league and college players, and are experts in the field of baseball instruction. We plan to offer select team opportunities for ages 8U-14u, depending on total division registration and interest at each division level. If there is not enough interest at a given level we will not offer a team in that division. CAN WE PLAY FOR MULTIPLE TEAMS? As a league, we work hard to protect players from injury. This includes injury from fatigue. If your son/daughter is playing for multiple teams, neither team/coach has the ability to effectively track your players’ health. Additionally, managers work hard to develop practice/game plans. This is a problem when players are playing for multiple teams and have inconsistent attendance or may not be eligible to pitch when his/her manager needs them to pitch. We won’t attempt to parent for you, but we strongly encourage you to limit your child to 1 baseball team at a time. And no, your son/daughter cannot play both select and rec ball at DPYB – that part we can control. In short, club level baseball connected to the recreational league. The Tsunami program allows for a more competitive experience, while staying tied to our community league.

Additional tournament play may also be available. We are looking for motivated players who exhibit the desire and talent to excel. We are dedicated to providing youth baseball players with the opportunity to develop their skills and reach their full potential in a competitive baseball environment designed to prepare them for the next level.

COST? Select teams pay the same registration fees as the recreational division. However, unlike the recreational division, Select players will purchase their upgraded uniforms at an additional cost. It will be up to each individual team/manager with respect to outside tournaments to enter. This includes possible out-of-state tournaments.
WHAT IS THE COMMITMENT? The commitment is for one Season (Fall or Spring). For 12U ONLY, the commitment is 12 months, Fall to Fall. Why?
