In the Mill District, driving is for golfers! Get out on the links in short order at this beautiful 9-hole course surrounded by nature. Open to golfers in the warmer months, the course is active all winter with sledding, snow-shoeing, and cross-country skiing. Bring your own equipment and enjoy views of the Berkshires while playing around featured ponds, wetlands, and native trees. Golf alone, with friends, or join one of their leagues!
Mill River Recreation Area keeps the Mill District active, with two basketball courts, two tennis courts, two little league-size baseball fields, a full playground, and a swimming pool for the summertime. Little ones are welcome too, with a toddler playground – including baby swings, and a wading pool.One of the longest hiking trails in Massachusetts, the trail cuts right through the Mill District! In the winter, the Town of Amherst grooms and maintains ski trails at Cherry Hill Golf Course, supported by the Amherst Nordic Ski Association, which was founded in 2018 to promote and enhance Nordic (cross country) skiing in Amherst and beyond.
