Orange Hair Wax

There is a lot of concern about how long temporary hair color wax last on hair and the consequences that come with using it for a temporary hair makeover. Although color wax does not last as long as semi-permanent dyes do, it may remain vibrant on your hair for 7 to 11 days, depending on how you take care of your hair during this period. In this blog, we will give you all the tips you need to maintain and care for your hair when using hair color wax. When you brush your hair, it disrupts the colored hair wax’s bond with your strands and causes flaking and loss of color. Detangle your hair with your fingers where possible.

All brands of the same product maintain a similar formula but have an ingredient or two that distinguish them from other brands. It might be a fragrance or a preservative, either way, no two products are the same. So even though your friend’s hair products mixed well with the hair color wax, yours might not.
Actual colors may vary. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor has a different capability to display colors and that everyone sees these colors differently. How to use: Use a small to moderate amount of hair color wax and apply to damp hair. Apply to hair starting from the bottom up by using your finger tips. Once you have applied, set the hair and allow it to dry.

A temporary water based hair coloring solution for those who want to try a new color every day of the week. Easy to apply, and easy to wash out, offers a strong hold with no damage to the hair. Best used for curly texture hair. Color may vary from person to person depending on hair texture and current hair color.
I think this product gave me false hope. My hair barely turned any colors and made a big mess on my clothing and in the bathroom. The pictures I saw of other peoples hair looked nothing like mine. I may dry again at some point but I should probably stick to professional color. My experience was delightful! I have brown and copper color natural hair, and, this transferred as copper. Not orange at all. It’s not greasy or drying, and, it’s a great way to have face framing highlights without dye. I live it! More than worth the price!

Is it bad to sleep with hair wax?
Leaving hair wax overnight is not recommended. Always wash your hair with a sulphate free shampoo before hitting the bed. Keeping the hair wax on your hair overnight can multiply the damages. At night, the hair wax will mix with sebum oil and sweat that your scalp produces.

Hutchins’s favorite hair color wax is Mofajang, as she feels that the colors are super bold and vibrant and it dries and sets better than other waxes she has tried. “It’s also not as messy as some competitors and lasts longer.”

“Hair color wax is a temporary type of hair color for people who want to experiment with fun, vibrant shades but also want to avoid chemicals and damage,” says Sha-Raya Hutchins, a New York City-based hairstylist. The perks go beyond not bringing on damage. “They deposit color onto strands which then easily comes off when you wash your hair with clarifying shampoo,” explains Danusia Wnek, a chemist in the Beauty, Health and Sustainability Lab at the Good Housekeeping Institute. “These waxes do not penetrate into the strand as permanent hair color does, making them gentler.” While every formula has a slightly different ingredient list, “they are generally made of beeswax or a hair wax component, water, alcohol and color pigments,” Hutchins explains.
Hair color wax can last anywhere from one to two weeks depending on how often you shampoo. “It fades out on its own mostly but washing speeds it up, especially with clarifying shampoo,” Hutchins says. Regular hair dye can last a few months; it also depends on how often you wash your hair or allow it to get wet.Hutchins believes that it’s good for your hair because it gives you color without all the damaging chemicals. “If brands could come up with an alcohol-free hair wax, it would be even better,” she says. “But hair color wax isn’t damaging and it washes out pretty easily.”

Just like any beauty product or treatment, there are upsides and downsides to using hair color wax, especially when compared to traditional hair color. Hutchins shares her thoughts:
The short answer: yes! Wnek suggests either wearing clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or wrapping yourself in an old towel. “The pigment from these types of products can really be messy,” she explains.

In terms of different hair types, “hair color wax can definitely be used on natural hair — it should be used as your wax or gel for your hair,” says Hutchins. She suggests washing and conditioning hair as normal and using your go-to leave-in conditioner or curl cream, then replacing any gel or wax products with hair wax instead. “I typically twist the hair using the wax as my styling gel and allow it to dry for an hour or so to prevent it from bleeding,” she says. “After that you can apply a light oil to your hair, untwist and go.”The easiest and quickest way to get rid of hair color wax is with clarifying shampoo. “It will not come out by just rinsing with water,” Hutchins says.

“Shopping for hair color wax can be a little tedious, as sometimes you have to try out a few to see which brand takes to your hair texture,” Hutchins says. “Different brands of hair wax have different consistencies, so you really need to read reviews and figure out which brand works best for you.”

Does Mofajang hair wax stain clothes?
It did not rub off on my clothing, or stain my skin. I was able to wash it off my hands with water alone.
Always be sure to read the instructions on your hair color wax packaging before applying and start with damp, freshly washed and conditioned hair. The application is super easy: divide hair into sections and apply it (with gloves on, of course) to each section — no mixing required. Keep in mind that a little goes a long way. You can always go back in and add a little bit more if the color isn’t as strong as you hoped; just wait at least 15 to 20 minutes for it to set. While you can use it on wet or dry hair, Hutchins feels that it sets better on wet hair. And unlike permanent hair dye, it shouldn’t be rinsed after application.Generally speaking, you’ll want to check the (typically short) ingredient list. Beeswax is the top ingredient in hair color waxes that helps the color stick so make sure that’s on the list. Color choice is a big (and fun!) part of the shopping process. There are tons of fun, bold colors to play with and try, especially since you aren’t making a big time commitment.

If you’re a fan of switching up your hair color and trying out new looks all the time (hi, me), you’re well aware of just how drying and damaging dyes and bleach can be. And if you’ve got hair that’s already prone to breakage and dryness, like curls and coils, you have to be even more careful when it comes to at-home coloring. Unless, of course, we’re talking about the very magical thing called hair color wax.

How long does hair color wax stay in?
Although color wax does not last as long as semi-permanent dyes do, it may remain vibrant on your hair for 7 to 11 days, depending on how you take care of your hair during this period. In this blog, we will give you all the tips you need to maintain and care for your hair when using hair color wax.
Hair color wax is usually made up of three ingredients: beeswax, petroleum jelly, and temporary pigment—there’s no ammonia or any of the harsh chemicals you typically find in hair dye. And unlike dyes that require mixing and developing, wax is ready to apply fresh out of the jar.

When it comes time to wash, Pierce suggests starting with a gentle clarifying shampoo (she likes Mizani Moisture Fusion Gentle Clarifying Shampoo, which is spiked with charcoal and coconut oil) or a pre-poo treatment to help loosen up the wax. You’ll then want to follow with your regular cleanser, conditioner, and styling routine.Ruby was the beauty editor at Cosmopolitan, where she covered beauty across print and digital. Her work has appeared on The Zoe Report, Fashionista, and StyleCaster. Follow her on Instagram. Need a visual? Follow along in the video above to see how YouTuber Naptural85 gets it done. Pro tip: After completing each section, she two-strand twists her hair, puts on a satin bonnet, and lets it dry overnight (which, when you see how pretty and vibrant her color comes out, might be worth trying). According to Jasmine Pierce, hairstylist at Yeluchi in Los Angeles, hair color waxes are ultra-pigmented waxes formulated with gentle, basic ingredients that temporary color your hair without any damage or irritation. And since they’re super easy to apply (more on that in a bit), they’re kinda a genius alternative for anyone looking to safely try out a vibrant new color (think: shades of pink, purple, blue, you name it) without jeopardizing their hair health. That’s why we tapped Pierce to learn everything there is to know about hair color wax, including how long it lasts, the best ones to shop now, and so much more.

“Hair color wax is great for people who want to color their hair but are concerned about damage,” says Pierce. “And since it’s only temporary and easy to wash out, it also means you have the ability to safely change your color as much as you want—you can have red hair one day and blue hair the next day.”
Heads up: Before you apply your color, take a peek at the instructions on your specific wax—they’re all a little different, so you’ll want to make sure you’re following the right guidelines for your formula. In general though, Pierce suggests starting with freshly washed and conditioned hair—you’ll want it damp, not soaking wet—and a leave-in conditioner or curl cream (i.e., something lightweight that’ll give you moisture and definition before you layer on the wax). Another cool thing about hair color wax: Even though people with dark hair typically need bleach before trying bright hues like pinks or purples—which, again, can be a super-damaging process—hair color wax is pigmented enough to show up on all hair colors (even black or brown). “My hair is pretty dark and hair color wax easily shows up on it,” says Pierce. Plus, hair color wax is super lightweight and flexible—it’s wax!—so there’s no need to worry about any crunchy or chalky textures. Even though hair color wax washes off easily, it’s always a good idea to wear a pair of disposable gloves (and an old T-shirt you don’t care about) since you’ll be using your hands to apply it. Pierce suggests taking your time and working in small sections to make sure you’re getting an even application. “A little goes a long way with hair color wax—depending on the density of your hair, you’ll want to use only a nickel or quarter-size dollop per section,” she says, adding that you can always go back and add more color if you’re not seeing enough pigment after 15 minutes.

Since hair color wax sits on the surface of your hair (versus actually penetrating your cuticles, like hair dye), it lasts until the next time you wash your hair. “It’s not meant to last forever, but you can probably get away with wearing it for a week or so,” says Pierce. One thing to keep in mind: Pierce says you should avoid touching up your color in the days following your initial application—the more wax you add to your hair before washing it increases your chance of buildup. If you’re looking for an easy, non-damaging way to try out a new color, hair wax is an excellent alternative. I mean, the fact that you can easily get bright colors without any bleach is kiiinda amazing. Again, there’s really only one downside: Since hair color wax is gentle and sits on the surface of your hair, it only lasts until your next shampoo. But if you’re cool with something temporary? Pick a color, grab a jar, and prepare to obsess over your new look.

The strongest hold of the entire range Gummy Professional styling wax range. Bright Finish is designed to keep your hair in place all day. This wax gives fantastic texture and definition to a style. Does not leave hair feeling oily or sticky. As compared to using a hair gel or a pomade, a hair wax can help give the hair a more natural sheen. It can also make the hair look smooth in appearance.

Is hair color wax messy?
Hair paint wax is super easy to use, but it can get quite messy. I recommend applying with a pair of gloves and wearing a shirt you don’t mind getting dirty.

Pomade is very often confused with hair wax. Well, they are very similar in texture, but are slightly different. Pomades too can help hold a hairstyle in place and similar to hair gel, it adds more shine to the hair as compared to hair wax.
If you have to choose a good hair styling product, then using a hair wax is the best option out there. It can add shine and texture to the hair and make your hair look voluminous. Hair waxes can also help tame frizz and flyaways. It’s super versatile and very easy to use, so make sure to lay your hands on a box of hair wax soon!

It helps add shine to the hair, even more than hair wax and gives the hair a greasy appearance. It often hardens quite a bit, making the hair strands look like they have been stuck together. It is harder to work with as compared to hair wax.
While applying the wax on your hair, it is recommended that you start off at the back and work your way towards the front. Since the wax is on both your hands, alternate your hands during application and make sure to apply the wax evenly all over your hair.

Washing off the hair wax properly is very essential because if the hair wax causes a buildup on the hair, overtime it can weigh down the hair and give it a greasy appearance even after the hair has been washed. It is versatile in its use and doesn’t harden and therefore can assist a change in hairstyle without needing to wash it off. It also is easy to wash off and it is safe to be used even on a regular or daily basis. It gives the hair more of a natural look, as compared to hair gels and pomades.

Similar to hair gel and pomade, hair wax is yet another type of hair styling product that can hold hairstyles in place. It has a clay-like consistency and using it helps add better texture and shine to the hair. It comes in various colours and can be used by anyone!

If you wish to use a hair spray or any hair cream once you have used a hair wax, you still can, as it is completely safe. But hair waxes work well even on their own, so you may not require to use any other hair product.

Well, while hair waxes are safe for the hair and scalp, we cannot forget the fact that this waxy substance can clog the pores on the scalp because a layer of buildup will form on the scalp and on the hair.
Step 2: Then, take a pea-sized quantity of hair wax using the tip of your finger and apply it to the center of your palm. Then, rub it together between your palms so that the hair wax heats up and melts, so that it is easier to apply on the hair.Do you sometimes have a “bad hair day” and your hair just doesn’t seem to cooperate when you need it to the most? Those pesky flyaways and frizz can always act as troublemakers ruining a perfectly good hairstyle, right?

A lot of people often think that hair gels, hair waxes and pomades are the same products. Well, while they are all hair styling products they differ in their ingredients and how they can be used for hair styling.

Hair waxes are most often alcohol-free hair styling products that help add texture to the hair and help hold hairstyles in place. It is easy to work with and simple to use.

Is wax good for your hair?
Hair waxes are mostly made up of natural ingredients like beeswax, candelilla wax etc. Therefore, they are absolutely safe for the hair and help hydrate the hair and will not cause hair damage. Thus, using hair wax even on a daily purpose will not damage your hair, unlike gel or pomade.
Why wouldn’t you want to get a different hair color every week? Or even everyday? Feeling blue? I got chyuuu! Feeling mean? Honey go green! Feel like painting the town red? Put that color on your head! Feeling cray-cray? Then go grey! #washable #hairpaint #hairwax #naturalhair rinse your hair using lukewarm or warm water (as it can soften the hair wax, making the washing off process much easier), while gently use your fingertips to clean the hair wax off your scalp.

A lot of people do not prefer products without alcohol because they dry the hair and scalp out. Well, most often, hair waxes do not contain alcohol and are safe for the hair and scalp.Step 1: Make sure to detangle your hair using a wide-toothed comb or a paddle brush, so that it is free from knots (making the application process easier).

A hair gel most often contains alcohol and is a product that hardens on the hair once applied. Therefore, it needs to be washed off in case you wish to redo your hairstyle.

Does colored hair wax work?
“Hair color wax is great for people who want to color their hair but are concerned about damage,” says Pierce. “And since it’s only temporary and easy to wash out, it also means you have the ability to safely change your color as much as you want—you can have red hair one day and blue hair the next day.”
Also, pomades can be really hard to wash off as compared to hair waxes and therefore, hair waxes are more suitable for daily usage as they wash off easily. When you use a gel or pomade, since they harden on the hair, there is no room for error while styling, because changing or redoing the hairstyle will mean you need to wash your hair to get rid of the product first. If you buy hair wax that contains alcohol and use it too often, there is a possibility that it can dry your scalp and hair out considerably. This can lead to scalp dryness and hair breakage due to dryness, thus leading to hair loss. Getting hair wax off the hair can be quite difficult and therefore, the best way to wash it off would be by applying a generous amount of shampoo directly onto your dry hair (because the wax will otherwise repel the water) and lather it in, starting from the root to the tip. Well, ever heard of hair wax? This product can literally be your saving grace no matter what hairstyle you choose to give yourself, it will help hold it perfectly in place and make your hairstyling experience a smooth one!If you’re new to this product, then we’ve got you covered as this article will let you in on all the information related to hair wax, how it is different from gels and pomades, how do they benefit you and of course, the cons (as every product has its fair share of cons as well, right?) and it will also talk about how you should use it and wash it off the right way!Hair waxes are mostly made up of natural ingredients like beeswax, candelilla wax etc. Therefore, they are absolutely safe for the hair and help hydrate the hair and will not cause hair damage. Thus, using hair wax even on a daily purpose will not damage your hair, unlike gel or pomade. As long as you use a very little hair wax while styling your hair, you are good to go! Hair waxes can actually give your hair more of a bouncy effect and add to hair volume if used in a limited quantity. It won’t weigh down your hair then. For those with curly hair, using hair waxes can make your hair look super luscious and better defined without hardening the hair to be able to stand in place. Hair waxes by themselves have a very strong hold over the hair, without making the hair hard. With a hair wax, you can redo your hairstyle any number of times as it doesn’t harden and is easy to use. So this product is suitable for first timers because of its versatility of use.A lot of people have to deal with hair frizziness, flyaway baby hair strands and uncooperative hair. Well, using hair wax can help hold frizzy hair and flyaway hair strands in place for long hours.Hair color wax is a trendy product floating around on Instagram and YouTube, which is how I personally discovered it. When I saw naturals using it the first few times, I couldn’t understand how they were getting such bright colors to show up on their brown and black coils. Don’t you have to bleach your hair to achieve that type of color? The answer is no.Before I wrap this up, I want to share one more temporary hair color option with you: Crown Paint Colors give the same bold color payoff as wax, however, unlike hair paint wax that is usually applied to wet hair, this is best if applied on dry hair. It’s similar to hair paint wax, but instead of a beeswax base, this colorful paint is cream-based.The major difference between traditional dyes and hair paint wax is how long they stay in the hair. Rinses can have a similar effect since the color coats the hair and lasts for a couple of washes, but this type of color is best used to go darker on deeper toned hair. On the other side of the spectrum is a permanent hair color that uses chemicals to change your hair color until you grow it out. If you’re trying to achieve a super pigmented color on dark hair with permanent color, bleaching is usually the only way to go, and that can lead to irreversible hair damage. For a few days, I felt like Marvel’s Storm (without the superpowers). But the most enjoyable part is that the process is super easy and non-damaging. Below, I’ll share how to find the right wax, how to apply it, and what to expect once you’ve placed the paint on your curls. Keep scrolling for more!

Does hair color wax damage hair?
“Hair wax isn’t damaging to your hair and doesn’t alter the texture of your hair,” she says. “Regular hair dye can leave your hair very dry and cause breakage.”
Hair paint wax is super easy to use, but it can get quite messy. I recommend applying with a pair of gloves and wearing a shirt you don’t mind getting dirty. Depending on your hair’s length and type, you’ll want to work in sections, as that will ensure you get even coverage all over (coarser hair may need more product, whereas finer hair will need less). I followed my post-wash product layering, and then applied the wax. One thing to keep in mind is you don’t need to apply a lot of wax to achieve a color payoff. Over-applying can cause flaking and can be prevented with the right level of application. After applying, I did go back over some spots that I wanted to highlight for an extra silvery pop, then I let my hair air dry, and followed up with a diffuser. You may be wondering if it takes an extra effort to rinse away the wax, and the answer is no. However, you’ll want to incorporate buildup-busting products like a pre-poo to loosen up the wax and pigment, followed by a scalp and hair scrub to clarify and remove excess buildup.

The only issue I had with the wax was flaking, which can be remedied by using a lighter hand to apply the wax in the first place. (On my first application, I did have flaking, but it only lasted for the first day.) There is one additional downside, specifically for those with finer hair types: Since this is a wax, you may have to do a little testing on your curls before you find the right way to use it without weighing down your hair.

Each of the three most popular options has one key ingredient that helps the color show up and helps the curls pop: Cera alba, also known as beeswax. Of the three, Mysteek Naturals is the simplest formula, only using three ingredients (beeswax, petroleum jelly, and color pigment) to make her coveted hair paint wax.
Both Mofajang and ORS Curls Unleashed Color Blast are made with several ingredients, one of which might yield some concern, and that is titanium dioxide, which is commonly used in sunscreens and as a thickener/emulsifier in beauty products. There have been many debates on whether or not the ingredient is safe, but according to the EWG, titanium dioxide scores at just 1-3/10 on a toxicity rating (10 being the most toxic).

Hair paint wax offers a simple, temporary way to try on new hair colors sans the damage traditional hair color can leave behind. If you’re curious about it, give it a try! If you’re anything like me, you’ll be adding a new color to your cart after seeing your hair for the first time.
When I purchased my first jar of hair paint wax, I went with what seemed to be the most popular version from Mofajang. Since my first use in 2019, there are a few more brands, including a woman-owned, Black-owned brand that is now in the mix (more on that below). Depending on what your haircare requirements are, you’ll want to take a look at the ingredients in each option. Also, the color possibilities are quite vast. You can go blue, pink, purple, gold… the list goes on!I have always loved the gray hair trend, mainly because I am a 30-something who’s already graying. I wanted to try on a silver color without taking a permanent, possibly damaging plunge. My experience was fun, and everyone around me thought that I’d actually dyed my hair silver until I walked back into work a few days later with my usual brown hair (and several natural grays peppered in). My hair painting session lasted for four days with little retouching needed. The only place I found myself needing to add a little more paint was around my edges since I used water to pop my hair up into a puff. If you do decide to touch up your color, I would use as little product as possible to avoid flaking and curls that are stringy or crunchy. Ready to give your curls a boost of color and definition? Tired of commitment or damage from permanent hair dye? Our temporary color hair wax is here to save the day!I absolutely love this. I use it with my baby girl 3yrs old since she wants to have purple 💜 pink 💞 and whatever she wants for the day!!! Thank you for your product 😉 Not only does it add vibrant color to your curls, but it washes off easily with just one shower. So you can switch up your look as often as you like! Hair wax contains ingredients like alcohol, silicone, sulphate etc. All of them are highly responsible for making your hair dehydrated and brittle. Regular usage of hair wax to style your hair can cause rough and dull hair.

A good hair wax contains ingredients that are not harmful to your scalp and hair. One such ingredient is long-chain alcohol or fatty alcohol. Cetearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol are known for providing moisturizing benefits to your hair and often suggested by hair experts. You can also opt for an alcohol-free hair wax for styling your hair.1. If your hair loss is due to the hair wax you are using, the first step should be to put an end to the usage. Stop using the product that is causing hair loss. Therefore, the only solution to avoid unwanted hair loss is to keep your hair wax usage under check and follow all the precautions mentioned above. Furthermore, if your hair loss problem keeps increasing rapidly, consult a medical professional to seek immediate help.

Since hair wax majorly dehydrates your scalp and hair, it is better to limit the usage to your hair only. Do not apply the product to your scalp. Using hair wax directly on your scalp clothes the hair follicles and does not allow them to breathe. It interrupts hair growth.
Next, look for a hair wax that contains natural oil and natural ingredients like apple cider vinegar, aloe vera, olive oil, coconut oil, flaxseed extracts, sunflower wax, etc. Also, sulphate and paraben-free hair waxes are highly recommended.Have you ever noticed hair falling out after styling it with hair wax? If yes, there is a possibility that your hair wax is leading to hair loss. Hair wax is a useful product to style your hair and give it an attractive look. But often, hair styling products are associated with hair loss.

Using hair wax regularly can lead to hair discolouration. Hair wax extracts the moisture from your hair and makes major changes in your pH balance. It leads to a dehydrated and unhealthy scalp. As a result, you may notice an increased amount of grey hair.
In order to preserve the hair wax formula for a long time, the manufacturers use high-quantity alcohol. Alcohol is known to harm both your scalp and hair. It strips down the natural oil from your skin and makes it dehydrated. Your hair starts feeling dry and dull. In some cases, alcohol may irritate the skin of your scalp and cause itching. Gradually, your hair starts falling out due to dryness and irritation.6. If basic hair care does not help with your hair loss, you will need professional help. Your doctor may suggest medicines like minoxidil. This is a topical ingredient approved by the Food And Drug Administration for hair growth. It is known for treating male pattern baldness.[1]
