All the trails were really well maintained. We are beginners and the Red Trail was truly difficult (eg:hair pin curves with jagged rocks and some very steep rocky terrain) . We did about half of the Red, and returned to the Violet Trail via the Equestrian Road because it was too hard for us. It’s true to its classification as Difficult. The Violet and Orange are classified as easy, but still are a bit challenging. We were much more successful on those trails. We’ll definitely will be returning to the Orange and Violet.Pretty nice hike given the fact that it’s in Kansas. I hiked the Violet (took about an hour) and Red (took about 2.5-3hrs) loops with a buddy and both were very easy. Not really many scenic views but we did see a deer and a small pond thats loaded with algae on the red loop. Also the trails are located in Shawnee Mission Park which is probably my favorite place in the state because it has, hiking, fishing, boating, archery, disc golf, and a large dog park all in the same park.
