We teamed up with the incredibly talented Colorfulfilth to create this Limited Edition Mars Kitty Banter Scale set as the 2nd round of our Space Kitty Knife series. It’s inspired by Mars and the goal to put a man, woman, child, and kitty cat on the Red Planet.
Why a Mars space kitty? The same reason NASA keeps sending rockets and rovers to Mars: because it’s there. It calls to us. There’s an absurdity and challenge to the thing that inspires us. Mars is pretty epic. Add cats? Mind blown.Other notes: blade spine is 90 degrees for using as a ferro rod striker. WIUG means Whatttt iiiiiiiisssss Up Guys– Ben’s tagline in videos, and his maker’s mark. The lanyard hole is large-ish. The black blade versions are DLC coated and stonewashed.
Knafs started as a little garage side hustle in 2018. Our first product was a knife poster with everything we knew about knives on it. Now we’re a full-time hustle with 9 employees, 150+ products, a bigger garage and bigger dreams. Knafs is our goofy little way to take chances, make mistakes and get messy on our own terms. We’re glad you’re here for the ride. To the Moon, Amigos! The WE Banter is an EDC (everyday carry) knife designed to be low profile and quiet. And the shred fiber handles classes the thing up nicely– take it to your next black tie event. Or take it to your favorite fishing hole. This knife doesn’t care. It just shows up to cut things and cut them well. The deep carry clip keeps it low in the pocket, and the quiet lines make this a tool that thrives in the office, yet functions perfectly in the backcountry. The Banter has a high fidget factor with ceramic ball bearings around the pivot and a perfectly manufactured detent that make opening and closing this pocket knife a dream worth repeating again and again. And again.
We encourage you to disassemble the knife, tear it down, and put it back together– no warranty voided for disassembly. We’ve also built out a Lander Replacement Parts section of our site so you can replace screws, pocket clips, and scales. We want you to own your knife and enjoy it for years to come.
The first ever Knafs knife. The Lander. It’s a pocket knife that embodies the spirit of the first landing on the Moon. Take charge. Stick the landing. Walk on the Moon. The Lander is a pocket knife of possibility.
Why is this cool? We have a million ideas of ways to customize this knife. We suspect you also have a million ideas. By making the scales in this Fast Swap fashion, it opens up a world of customization. Plus, we’ve made the scales Open Source via Creative Commons License Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)– users can distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the scales in any medium or format, so long as attribution is given to Knafs. The license allows for commercial use. We just ask that you link back to Knafs. Simple. Open. Endless possibilities. Download the Lander STP file.
The scales on the Lander are Fast Swap Scales: they’re easy to remove without disassembling the entire knife. Simply unscrew four screws, and you’re freeee! If you’re unfamiliar with pocket knife disassembly, typically removing the scales can be an ordeal: the entire knife falls apart in your hands, and you’ve got to retune everything to align all the parts. Not hard, but not fast or convenient either.Transform your stock Kershaw Lucha into a tier one flipper with our anodized aluminum channel handles! Designed with a focus on weight and balance, mixed with comfort and performance.
Fresh out of the fryers, this crispy balisong is one for the collection. Featuring premium S35VN steel and textured G10 scales, along with WE’s renowned super smooth ceramic ball bearing pivot, the Banter looks and feels like a knife that should cost a lot more then it does. The ceramic ball bearing pivot, with the thumb stud, offers effortless, fast and smooth blade deployment that locks in with a satisfying click. With incredible edge retention from the S35VN steel, and a solid deep carry pocket clip, along with all the other great features, the Banter is a knife you don’t want to miss out on.Designed by Ben Petersen, the Banter is made to be the perfect EDC knife, after all, Ben Peterson has handled a lot of knives in his career, and we think it’s spot on. Completely unassuming in design, yet perfectly practical in use. This version uses Carbon Fibre for the handle, elevating this awesome little folder to a high tech level. Not only is it light in weight as a result but it is also extremely strong. The WE Knives Banter hit the industry hard with a practical design and great material build for a very reasonable cost. If you know us, we like to improve on things with minor changes. This project is no different. These scales are designed and machined right here on US Soil with incredible tolerances and feel. Crafted from 6Al4V Titanium, these scales offer not only a more rigid build with the Banter, but also allows for endless titanium customization options such as anodizing, specialty finishes, deep laser engraving and etching, and so much more. These US made scales are modeled after the OEM S35VN model scales, but adding a bit of heft weighing in at 2.2oz bringing the total weight of the assembled knife 3.8oz. Scales come factory stonewashed with a ridiculous amount of refinishing options.
