What is Raptor 700 hp?
Unlike the original Raptor’s 6.2-liter V8, Ford went to its muscle car machinery to power the R. Powering the R is a supercharged 5.2-liter engine making 700 horsepower and 640 lb-ft.
Clint Simone has worked in the automotive industry since 2015. He has tested and reviewed hundreds of vehicles over the course of his career. Before joining Edmunds as a senior reviews editor, Clint contributed to Motor1.com and InsideEVs, evaluating mostly electric cars. Clint loves hot hatchbacks more than any other type of vehicle but secretly enjoys driving big trucks when he gets the chance. He would never admit to that.
It was a no-brainer for Ford to bring us to the stunning sand dunes of Silver Lake in Michigan. It’s a natural playground for the Raptor R and the perfect place to demonstrate its off-road prowess. The only modifications made for our drive were airing down the 37-inch tires to 15 psi to prep the tires for working in deep sand and throwing on orange spotting flags. Otherwise, the Raptor Rs were in stock form.
From dunes to doughnuts to jumps, the Raptor R was nothing shy of heroic in its most comfortable setting. Admittedly, I have less sand-driving experience than I do on the rocks and trails, but the Raptor R turned me into a pro. Its ability to tackle terrain changes — at high and low speeds — felt like a cheat code. I’ll reserve judgment on its everyday livability until our team gets the truck in for a full round of testing. But as a desert runner, this is the best you can buy.
All that ability has to come at a cost. Like any good attraction, the Raptor R asks big money to ride. Ford has priced the Raptor R at $109,145 including destination — a massive $30,575 commitment over the V6 Raptor. That starting price also eclipses chief rival Ram TRX by a sizable margin. A comparably equipped TRX is around $95,000, making the Raptor R a clear loser in the price category. And of course, presumed dealer markups could make that even worse.
I want to clarify that I am a big fan of the V6 in the now “standard” Ford Raptor, both the previous generation and the current model. But from the moment I pressed the start button on the new Raptor R and heard the engine roar to life, I knew how special it was. Unlike the original Raptor’s 6.2-liter V8, Ford went to its muscle car machinery to power the R.
A series of vertical dunes were the first major test for me and my truck. Right away the engine stole the spotlight with ample torque reserves and smooth power delivery. For such a rambunctious powertrain, it’s easy to modulate the power as needed. I also came away very impressed with the software turning in the Baja drive mode. It kept the 10-speed transmission in the right gear at all times, both during climbs and descents. Powering the R is a supercharged 5.2-liter engine making 700 horsepower and 640 lb-ft. It’s the same engine used in the Shelby GT500, but with modifications for off-road duty. Ford engineers adjusted the torque curve to deliver more power down low where it’s needed, though the trade-off is less power at high rpm. You won’t be doing track days in a Raptor R, so it seems like a worthwhile trade to me. After eight years of absence, there is once again a thunderous V8 under the hood of the Ford Raptor. Enthusiasts begged and the company answered with the 2023 Ford Raptor R, an unapologetic hell-raiser for the ultimate off-road experience. I traveled to Michigan to try the truck in the dirt for myself and came away with an overwhelming sense of bewilderment. This is the most entertaining truck I’ve ever driven. It’s also L-O-U-D. Ford modified the standard Raptor’s exhaust for R duty, adding some insulation in the tips to make the truck noise-compliant. But don’t go thinking that they ruined the party — the Raptor R’s most extreme setting is for off-road use only because it’s just too loud for the streets. On the other hand, it’s the perfect solution if you really hate your neighbor.
How fast do 450 quads go?
around 55 mph 450cc engines top out around 55 mph which is pretty impressive for a modest engine size and 570cc ATVs can give you an additional 10 mph. When you jump to 650-850cc engines you’ll encounter the possibility for some nail-biting top speeds around 75 miles per hour.
Even with the tuning changes, you can feel the Mustang’s soul with every accelerator press in the Raptor R. Revs climb fast, with the supercharger coming into its own at around 4,000 rpm. Even with nearly 6,000 pounds of truck to propel, the brute force coming from the V8 is astounding. With most of our drive time relegated to the sand, I barely had the chance to break the Raptor R free on the pavement; I’m dying to see the numbers when our test team gets the truck later this year. This is a seriously quick truck. Then there is the obvious downer, fuel economy. The EPA has yet to officially rate the Raptor R, but we can expect worse numbers than the V6 Raptor’s 14 mpg city/18 highway and 15 mpg combined. An early indication is my test truck’s 11.1 mpg figure after mostly driving at normal highway speeds. For what it’s worth, we’re getting 13.6 mpg lifetime out of our own 2020 Shelby GT500. We’ve driven it more than 20,000 miles as part of our long-term test program. So take that and reduce it for whatever effect an additional 2,000 pounds and a less aerodynamic shape will have. Just south of the dunes were some whoops in the sand big enough to injure most trucks on sale today. But equipped with the Fox adaptive shocks that scan terrain hundreds of times per second, and 24-inch coils with a unique spring rate, the Raptor R made quick work of them. Here’s a visual demonstration to show just how much articulation is achievable. The 2023 Ford Raptor R is the pinnacle of what a gas-powered truck can do. The upgrade from six to eight cylinders makes a world of difference when it comes to personality, and makes an already fun product even better. V8 monsters like this won’t be around for much longer, so if you feel inclined to pay the six-figure price, now is the time.

In another encounter, Ranger Cliff Anderson and his family encountered a sow and her two cubs feeding on a carcass in the road. There were two other cars approaching the ranger and the bears when the female grizzly charged the cars. The sow ended up chasing the car for two miles at a top speed of 28 miles per hour.
Even the fastest sprinter, Usain Bolt, couldn’t outrun a bear. Bolt set a world record back in 2009 and his calculated speed for 100 meters was 23.75 miles per hour.So not only can grizzlies sprint fast, but they can also maintain high speeds for long distances. Read the full story from the Yellowstone encounters here.Grizzlies tend to be much more aggressive and territorial whereas black bears are often more timid and avoid human interaction. That said, both species can be aggressive if they have cubs around. If you see a sow with her cubs, take extra caution.Let’s start with the good news: bear attacks are relatively rare. On average, there are 40 brown bear attacks around the world every year. Black bear attacks are even less common. In the United States, on average, there is one fatal black bear attack per year.
While we’ve never seen the two race, it’s safe to say that many common dog breeds cannot outrun a bear. There are about 10 different dog breeds that can reach speeds above 35 mph, out of the 195 breeds recognized by the American Kennel Club. So, somewhere between 3 and 5% of the breeds in the world could outrun a bear. Not only can the fastest human not outrun a bear, but you definitely shouldn’t try. The world record for the fastest two-mile run was set by Daniel Komen in 1997. It took him 7 minutes, 58 seconds to run two miles. That’s roughly 15 mph sustained for two miles.
There isn’t a whole lot of research on a bear’s speed. As you can imagine, setting up the ideal experiment to capture their speed would be difficult. Most references to a bear’s speed come from two different encounters in Yellowstone National Park back in the 1930s
Polar bears are the third slowest member of the Ursidae family with max speeds topping out around 25 miles per hour. With polar bear habitat quickly declining, polar bear encounters are becoming increasingly more common. According to the World Wildlife Fund, there have been more than 20 polar bear attacks on humans in recent years. If you happen to be in an area that polar bears inhabit, you should understand the potential risks in the same way you would a grizzly or black bear.
Bears will typically target fish, rodents, and hooved animals such as moose, elk, caribou, and deer. They are particularly effective at targeting younger and injured animals as they’re slower and more vulnerable.
Grizzly bears are the fastest of the Ursidae family and can sprint at top speeds of 35 mph to 40 mph. While they can’t maintain this top speed very long, their ability to sprint fast and maintain high speeds make them exceptionally effective predators.Having bear spray and/or a firearm and knowing how to use them can help protect you from bear attacks. Check out our video on whether you should carry bear spray, a pistol, or both when you’re out in the bear woods.
For animals that can weigh up to 1,700 pounds, bears are incredibly fast creatures. Grizzlies, black bears, and polar bears can all run faster than the average human. While a few particularly quick-footed dog breeds might be able to move faster than a bear, your average dog wouldn’t stand a chance.
Black bears are a bit slower than grizzlies but can reach top speeds of around 30 miles per hour. Their speed is going to vary based on age and athleticism. For example, a bear with its winter coat and fat reserves is going to be slower than a lean bear coming out of hibernation. Thirty miles per hour is still significantly faster than humans or your average dog (more on this below).Bears are omnivorous, meaning they eat both plants and animals. Depending on breed, their diet makeup ranges from 60% to 90% plant-based. In order to catch the meat they also rely on, they must be fast and smart.
Both of these encounters happened soon after the roads were plowed. In one situation, two park employees came across a sow and her cubs in the road. The bears saw the car and took off down the road with the park employees following at a safe distance for two miles. They used their car’s speedometer to clock their speed and were traveling at a consistent 25 miles per hour for two miles.
How much HP does a 700 Grizzly have?
Grizzly 700 Stage 1 – 53 Hp.
If you see a bear when you’re hiking in the woods, the first thing you should do is identify what type of bear it is. Grizzly bears and black bears often react very differently to humans.
How fast does a Yamaha Grizzly 450 go?
Yamaha YFZ 450 In-Depth Guide A stock YFZ 450 ATV has a top speed of approximately 75MPH (see top speeds list).
All of these world records were also completed on flat ground, of course. Add in a hill and fallen timber and there is absolutely no way you could outrun a bear. Bears can easily navigate forests at speeds well above the top speeds of humans and dogs.
The best way to avoid bear encounters is to not surprise them. Walking with a group of people, talking, and making noise is typically enough to deter bear encounters. Most bears don’t want to mess with humans.
Black bears are also highly adapted for climbing, so while they can’t run as fast as a grizzly, they can out-climb them. Black bears can climb 100 feet up a tree within 30 seconds. So don’t try to escape a black bear by climbing a tree. A couple of dogs that could potentially outrun a bear (based on top speeds would be) a greyhound (45 mph), saluki (45 mph), jack russell terrier (38 mph), dalmatian (37 mph), and weimaraner (35 mph). While bears may look soft and pudgy, beneath all that fur are some pretty incredible muscles. With the skin off, they look surprisingly like a human bodybuilder. These muscles develop from a lifetime of wandering through the woods and chasing their prey. A bear’s claws also make them particularly effective at gaining traction on uneven terrain and climbing trees. The tuned ECU works together with the fuel controller to adjust and recalculate the appropriate air-to-fuel ratios and makes the fuel adjustment required relative to the extra airflow. This will enhance throttle response, speed, and horsepower at each throttle position and RPM level. In addition, this will also make sure that your engine is not harmed by upgrades you performed to the intake and exhaust systems.
What is the top speed of a Yamaha 660 ATV?
According to trial runs, youtube videos, industry magazines and dealer information 74 MPH is the generally accepted top speed of a stock Raptor 660R model. So many things can and do affect the overall top speed that it’s hard to take them all into account but a good average is 74 MPH.
Yamaha’s Grizzly 700 is a proof of Yamaha’s dedication to developing state-of-the-art technological advancements and is a successor to the popularly known Grizzly 660. The Grizzly 700 is a moderately bigger ATV and it has addressed many of its precursor’s common flaws. The best part yet, Yamaha made these changes while sticking to the true strengths of the lineage.
The Grizzly 700 comes with a fuel tank capacity of 5.28 US gallons/20 liters, with a 1.19-US gallon/4.5-liter reserve. The Grizzly 700 is also quite fuel efficient, as the ATV can give you roughly 90 – 95 miles per tank.
The ATV’s overall dimensions are 2,065 x 1,180 x 1,240 mm – L x W x H (81.3 x 46.5 x 48.8 inches). The base ground clearance is 275 mm (10.8 inches), while its wheelbase is 1,250 mm (49.2 inches). The Yamaha Grizzly 700 weight of 294 Kg/648 lbs makes it slightly heavier than the Grizzly 660. The Grizzly’s air intake consists of several components, such as the air filter and air box, which enables the engine to breathe properly. Like other Yamaha quads, the Grizzly’s built-in intake system chokes out the higher RPM levels, limiting its top-end speed. The advent of technologically advanced quads called for a significant upgrade to the Grizzly 660 into a machine that could go head-to-head with leading name brands in the industry. Hence, the birth of the Yamaha Grizzly 700 — a mean workhorse that features a 32-bit ECU for electronic power steering. The Yamaha Grizzly 700 also features a more extensive 686 cm3 displacement, and a 44-mm throttle-body fuel injection.Upgrading your air intake system can do more harm than good if your Grizzly cannot exhale all that added airflow. This is why upgrading your built-in exhaust system is also quite important. By modifying the stock exhaust system, it will help provide the extra airflow with an effective exit.
Despite having its minor imperfections, the Grizzly 700 retained the Grizzly’s position in the ATV market. However, this model isn’t known for its top speed, but the 4-wheeler still packs a lot of firepowers. In this article we’ll share details about the Yamaha Grizzly 700 top speed, and specs.
After adjusting the amount of air flowing in and out of your quad, it’s also entirely crucial that you modify your four-wheeler’s electronic control unit (ECU) to account for the increased air flow. When upgrading the air intake and exhaust systems, you must also ensure the appropriate amount of fuel flow.
With that said, many pro-off-roaders still want more speed from their Grizzly 700. If this is you, there are some upgrades you can make to push the Grizzly’s top speed up into the 75+ mph range. The result will place it on par with other well-rounded ATVs that deliver top-end speed.
Despite being far from perfect, the 2007 Yamaha Grizzly 700 succeeded in maintaining the Grizzly’s position in the ATV scene. The machine is continued proof that Yamaha’s execution is still right on the mark.In addition to the above lists, here are other common issues you would be better off knowing about the Grizzly 700, which seem to have inherited downsides from its 660-class sibling, except for the third one:Mods will also largely depend on your intended use of the quad. If you are hauling wood and other similar things, a Kodiak 450 (for instance) may already be sufficient. Its turning radius, transmission, towing rate, EPS, and on-the-fly 4WD are comparable to a 700-class machine. But if you need a powerful trail bike with a true differential lock, then the extra 280-cc of the Grizzly 700 makes a huge difference.
What is good about the Grizzly 700 series is that its base models were offered in camouflage finish at no additional cost, unlike other Yamaha ATVs where you have to pay a premium to get a Hunter-themed quad. Actual Hunter Edition models are available, of course. But these slightly pricier vehicles came with gun racks and a cargo box that can be placed at the front or rear.
These additions may seem inconsequential to the untrained eye. But for enthusiasts, these changes in the vehicle’s cylinder, frame, and suspension meant a huge improvement in durability, power output, and overall performance.A lower seat height allows for easy steering and maneuverability. The fuel injection system provides superb air-fuel mixture and enables easy startup despite temperature or altitude changes.
The emergence of technologically advanced four-wheelers called for an upgrade of the Grizzly 660 into a machine that could compete head-to-head with top name brands in quality, popularity, and sales. Hence, the 2007 Yamaha Grizzly 700 was born – a mean workhorse that included a 32-bit ECU for electronic power steering, a 44-mm throttle-body fuel injection, and a larger 686 cm3 displacement.
The 2008 Yamaha Grizzly 700 was the first model year to have the Ducks Unlimited – EPS Edition (YFM7FGPDUX). The 2009 Yamaha Grizzly 700 Special Edition – EPS trim was the only SE 4×4 in Dark Royal Red. Special Edition trims after 2009 were all made available in white, including the 2012 Yamaha Grizzly 700. The 2014 Yamaha Grizzly 700 was the last model year where base models were offered in blue and red.

The top speed of a stock Yamaha Grizzly 700 is 64 mph. Some owners claim to hit 70 mph with their 2015 Yamaha Grizzly 700. Upgrades do not guarantee that results will be the same for everyone. Riding style, weather conditions, and terrain are just some of the factors that make the Grizzly’s top speed vary.Modded or stock, the Grizzly’s monstrous power has never failed to satisfy people’s adventurous desires. Its variety of trims and specifications cater to riders of all ages and skill levels. Its simplistic but aggressive styling keeps it relevant and well-loved. It is a high-performing machine that is as capable as it is versatile, continuously evolving to answer to the demands of the riding community and general consumers. The Yamaha Grizzly 700 is the realization of Yamaha’s hard work in developing technological advancements, such as its V-belt transmission and fuel injection. A successor to the Grizzly 660, this slightly bigger machine improved aesthetically and addressed some of its precursor’s known flaws. And it did all this while keeping true to the strengths of its lineage. Learn about these enhancements, along with the four-wheeler’s specs, top issues, and highlights, in this article. Like the EPI Mudder Clutch Kit (view on Amazon) or JBS Extreme clutch kit, other mods will reduce top speed but provide better rip at the bottom end, in reverse, and low gear, especially when you get stuck in the mud. Gains are very noticeable during back shifting and in doing wheelies. However, these capabilities may not be on everyone’s checklist. Ultimately, the need for speed or low-end grunt is all a matter of personal preference. However, it would not hurt to modify your brute to get a better top-end reading. Here are some upgrade recommendations from online resources and Grizzly owners that can help enhance your 4×4’s rapidity and power:
Rubber-damper engine mounts and a gear-driven crankshaft balancer shaft aid in reducing vibration. Furthermore, Nikasil-coated cylinders make the 4×4 more suitable for serious mudding.

The Yamaha yfz450r frame is made from lightweight aluminum with a steel bottom frame that lets the engine sit lower to the ground resulting in a lower center of gravity. The suspension parts have been given more travel and upon closer review a Kashima coating covers the front shocks.
The Yamaha YFZ 450 ATV is one of the lightest and most powerful sport ATVs ever manufactured(YFZ 450 Specs below). Countless magazine reviews, race titles and GNCC and quad-cross championships say so. A stock YFZ 450 ATV has a top speed of approximately 75MPH (see top speeds list). It was crowned world four-stroke champion in 2005 and 2006 and was named sport ATV of the year by ATV Illustrated in 2007. Yamaha continues to produce the YFZ 450 to be just as potent and it continues to dominate the industry well into 2020.
Sometimes two is better than one, consider buying two separate ATVs if you find that together they have all the parts on your wish list. You can swap parts and re-sell the ATV you don’t want and maybe even turn a profit on it.The 2006 Yamaha YFZ 450 signaled the start of a new trend in which sport ATVs were capable of *gasp* racing stock. Stock Yamaha YFZ 450 OEM parts were high performance by design which is a good thing when you’re going to be keeping many of them during your ATV project build. A quick check of several popular ATV for sale hot-spots shows that there are a lot of used 2006’s available right now which is also a good thing because you’ll be able to negotiate a better deal if you’re patient.
Other popular places to get a good idea of real price values (real = what the market is willing to currently pay) include Craigslist, your weekly Pennysaver, the local newspaper classifieds and perhaps even your favorite forums. I can’t stress how important it is to be patient if you need to stretch your dollar buying power in order to build the ATV of your dreams. You can save thousands by watching the market closely, people do it every day. If you know of other good sources of used ATVs for sale let me know.
Be patient and negotiate like a pro by ignoring the good parts of an ATV and focusing on the negative. Sometimes a seller will accept a lower offer just to get rid of an ATV, especially if it doesn’t have the parts a buyer is looking for.
The YFZ450r Engine has also been beefed up in 2009 with an enlarged throttle body, a 42mm Mikuni vs last years 39mm, and a 12 hole fuel injector system. An ISC (Idle Speed Control) is also included for easy starting and warming up. The end result is the same torque, rpm and power we’ve come to expect from the YFZ450 but with improved response and better overall performance.
When you buy a new sport ATV you’re likely going to upgrade a lot of the parts, eventually. The first step is to find a good deal on the make and model of ATV you’re wanting to build. If I was about to start building yet another low budget ATV project the 2006 Yamaha YFZ 450 r would be high on my list of possible choices and here is why…
What is a grizzly bear top speed?
56 km/hGrizzly bear / Speed (Maximum, Running) Grizzly bears are the fastest of the Ursidae family and can sprint at top speeds of 35 mph to 40 mph.
The YFZ450r swing-arm is made of ultra strong gravity fed aluminum to keep it light and rear stopping power comes from a trick looking wave type rotor. 2009 Yamaha YFZ450r specs are as follows…Your two concerns when buying the core of your project should be a) is it complete so that I can have fun with it right away and b) is everything in working order. When planning a low budget ATV project there is nothing worse than ending up with an ATV you can’t enjoy because a certain part is broken and too expensive to fix without needing to save first. The planning stages – know what you’re going to buy before you buy anything at all and make sure to research your specific model in advance. Your first purchase will be a complete ATV, hopefully at a great price, and there is an art to saving money when choosing the right ATV. You’ll be buying the specific parts you want later on so don’t waste money by paying more for the core frame/ATV just because the owner made his own upgrades to the YFZ 450 before selling it. Set a price you’re willing to pay and stick to it even if it does have bells and whistles already. Since you have a very specific wish list and your goal is to cross everything off that list while spending the least amount of money possible it makes sense to avoid taking your list to a dealer who will charge top dollar, browse the for sale by owner listings and again, be patient!
How fast can a Grizzly 600 go?
With a 100cc disadvantage, the Sportsman 500 pulled and accelerated almost as quickly as our 600 Grizzly. The big Griz would out pull the Sportsman on the top-end with a slight edge in top-speed. Both machines will top-out at close to 60 mph. Shades of a “Bonanza” episode.
If you find yourself near a bear, never try and run away. Grizzlies are faster than even the fastest humans and will instinctively chase after you if they see you running.Polar bears, which typically weigh more than 1,000 pounds, are generally considered to be slightly larger than grizzly bears and other brown bears. The Kodiak bear, a variety of grizzly that lives on Kodiak Island in Alaska, is a close second.
How fast does a Yamaha 350 Grizzly go?
A 19 horsepower 4-stroke 348cc engine helped the stock Warrior 350 reach top speeds of 63 MPH. Seat height stands at 30.1 inches. Yamaha made the Warrior 350 famous by giving it the world’s first electric starter and after a 17 year production run it remains the top-selling ATV of all time.
Grizzly bears used to live across the Western United States, even as far south as Mexico, but are now found only in Alaska and around Yellowstone National Park.
The grizzly is a subspecies of brown bear. People typically use the name “grizzly bear” to refer to brown bears living in the Rocky Mountains or in Alaska. Brown bears also live in Europe and Asia. They may look (and act) slightly different depending on where they live.
Is it a brown bear or a grizzly bear? It’s both: The grizzly is a subspecies of brown bear. People typically use the name “grizzly bear” to refer to brown bears living in the Rocky Mountains or in Alaska. Brown bears also live in Europe and Asia. They may look (and act) slightly different depending on where they live.Thousands of grizzlies roamed the continental United States in the 19th century, but the animal was almost wiped out by hunters and pioneer settlers. Researchers estimate that 700 to 1,000 bears remain in the Yellowstone region, and more than 30,000 live in Alaska.
The federal government wants to lift protections for hundreds of grizzly bears living near Yellowstone National Park. The bears were nearly wiped out in the continental United States before protections were enacted in 1975. How much do you know about one of the world’s fiercest animals? See if you can separate grizzly fact from fiction.

So let’s check it out.According to trial runs, youtube videos, industry magazines and dealer information 74 MPH is the generally accepted top speed of a stock Raptor 660R model. So many things can and do affect the overall top speed that it’s hard to take them all into account but a good average is 74 MPH. Elevation, temperature, humidity, rider weight, ATV condition, surface type, fuel type and modifications all play a role in how much speed is possible from your ATV. The Yamaha Raptor 660 is a 398 pound sport class all-terrain vehicle(ATV) manufactured by Yamaha Motors Inc from 2001 to 2005. The 660 Raptor includes a 36 horsepower 660cc, five valve, 4-stroke liquid cooled engine with the most displacement available in any quad at the time. It also featured a 3 intake and 2 exhaust valve setup, over 10 inches of ground clearance, a seat height of 33.9 inches and has a top speed of 74 MPH(stock). More impressively it was sold with an MSRP of $6,499.00 in the U.S. giving the Yamaha Raptor 660 impressive value as well. As you can probably imagine engine size is going to be the primary factor in how fast your ATV can go and for the most part, the bigger the engine, the faster it can go. 110cc ATVs are designed for kids and make up the slower end of the spectrum with top speeds around 30mph. 450cc engines top out around 55 mph which is pretty impressive for a modest engine size and 570cc ATVs can give you an additional 10 mph. Racing quads are equipped with upgraded suspension, wide tires and are ridden by experienced riders, so these can’t be compared to your average stock ATV. Also keep in mind the conditions you ride, if you’re hitting wet trails it’s only a matter of time before your vehicle is caked in mud which will slow it down. Most manufacturers won’t state their machine’s top speed on their spec sheets and most will also come with a disclaimer to “avoid excessive speed.”
Weight is the single biggest factor that can inadvertently slow you down. You’ll want to consider the weight of everything from the rider to the bumper and any additional gear you might have including a backpack. Especially if you like to ride more remote trails and are prepared with tools, safety supplies and a cooler of snacks and drinks, it’s pretty common to rack up an extra 50 pounds of gear!
For the fastest ATV top speed you’ll need to go with a quad rocking 1,000cc engine with a limiter raised to 80mph. Remember that ATVs are designed to be powerful at lower speeds, which is really why they have big engines. While some ATVs are capable of faster speeds they’re not meant to set speed records and for most folks a vehicle that can push 50+ mph is going to pack enough of an adrenaline punch.

When you jump to 650-850cc engines you’ll encounter the possibility for some nail-biting top speeds around 75 miles per hour. Keep in mind that ATVs aren’t really designed for such high speeds, but some are capable of hitting higher speeds under the right conditions like flat straight sprints (we’re not talking about riding trails at these speeds).Even though you won’t be riding at top speeds on a regular basis, it’s a question that is bound to come up: how fast does an ATV go? For most ATVs their top speed is between 50-90 miles per hour which will depend on different factors like engine size. Let’s learn more about the speediness of ATVs. While we don’t recommend skimping on safety and comfort to cut down weight, it is something to be aware of. Other factors include the usually softer factory suspension and aggressive tires on your ATV. While these can be swapped after market the way ATVs are factory built and designed with relatively short wheelbases and spacing (compared to a car) and even their CVT transmission prevent them from being super speedy. While it’s fun to test the limits of your ATV it’s usually not comfortable, practical or safe and will impact its fuel economy, performance and longevity. The top speed of a 2012 Arctic Cat 550GT TRV is approximately 62 mph on a hard packed surface. If a top speed run is done on loose gravel or sand an approximately 52-54 mph top speed can be expected.
