Gov. Mike DeWine signed legislation on Monday that will revamp the state’s fireworks law after a years-long push by the industry to legalize their use. Ohio previously only allowed consumers to use sparklers and a handful of other pyrotechnics, and anything else had to be taken out of state within 48 hours of purchase.”It’s still an inherently unsafe activity to put explosives in the hands of consumers,” she said. “Not only are they putting themselves in danger, but they’re putting innocent bystanders in danger.”
Haley BeMiller is a reporter for the USA TODAY Network Ohio Bureau, which serves the Columbus Dispatch, Cincinnati Enquirer, Akron Beacon Journal and 18 other affiliated news organizations across Ohio.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission further instructs people to light one firework at a time, never throw them at anyone and never carry them in your pocket. Consumers should also avoid buying products in a brown paper bag, as they are likely for professional displays and not personal use.Safety advocates agree on one key point: There’s no risk-free way to use fireworks. Sherry Williams of Prevent Blindness Ohio said they expect injuries to increase in the wake of Ohio’s new law and will continue to educate consumers about the dangers.
What cities in Ohio are fireworks illegal?

Animal Kingdom used to have a nighttime show called Rivers of Light, but after the parks closed in 2020 it was confirmed by Disney to not be returning.
Another popular show that does not look to be returning post-pandemic is Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! This holiday-themed projection and fireworks show was shown nightly on the Chinese Theater during the holiday season. The Electrical Water Pageant is a water parade that takes place nightly on the waters just outside Magic Kingdom. It is one of those “classic” Disney World things, and it is guaranteed to spark a ton of nostalgia! The best nighttime show and fireworks viewing spots at Disney World are not hard to snag, but they do take a little planning. Check out these tips below to help you find the perfect spot to catch all the action.
But, if you want one of the best spots or if you have a large group or are traveling during a busy time of the year, you will need to start looking for a spot closer to an hour (or more) before the show starts.
For the best view, head to Discovery Island and try to get as close to the Tree of Life as possible. But, because of the frequency and the fact that people are often just pausing for a bit before moving on, it is really easy to get a good view. All 4 festivals also have nightly concerts and shows taking place. The show times will vary depending on the season, but all the concerts take place at the American Gardens Theatre in the American Adventure Pavilion. Epcot has 1 nighttime fireworks. While it used to be Harmonious (which debuted in 2021 for the 50th Anniversary and replaced the previous show called Illuminations), currently, Epcot Forever is running. Currently, only Standby Seating is available, however reserved seating for Dining Packages starts on November 30, and we do expect to see reserved seating for Genie+ to begin around that time, too. But, the good thing about Epcot Forever is that if you aren’t too concerned about snagging a front-row spot against the railing, it truly isn’t that difficult to find a place right as the show begins where you can see things “good enough”.
As part of the 50th Anniversary Celebration Spaceship Earth was decked out with hundreds of “Points of Light” — and this, thankfully, has continued post-50th. About every 15 minutes or so at night, Spaceship Earth undergoes a transformation as “Lights shine from within Spaceship Earth’s reflective panels as stardust emerges to symbolize beacons of possibility and optimism.“
As for the best angle, looking at the castle straight on is ideal because that puts the fireworks in the proper position behind the castle. You may still get a good view from the sides, but the fireworks may look off-center instead of appearing directly behind Cinderella Castle. With the same projection technology you can find being used on Cinderella Castle and the Tree of Life, during the holidays, the Tower of Terror gets transformed into fun holiday vignettes. If you are visiting the Walt Disney World Resort outside the busy holiday season (or the 4th of July), 30-45 minutes early can get you a “pretty good” fireworks viewing spot for a family of 4. Trust us: these are cute little shows with the Tower of Terror being changed into things like a Muppets’ gingerbread masterpiece, a Toy Story toy hotel, a snowy corner of Arendelle, and a Dickensian village from Mickey’s Christmas Carol. If you are visiting the Walt Disney World Resort outside the busy holiday season (or the 4th of July), 30 minutes early can get you a “pretty good” fireworks viewing spot for a family of 4.But, before the new show launches, Disney brought back Epcot Forever as an
interim show. Yes, this also means those controversial Harmonious’ barges are no more.
Are fireworks legal in Zanesville Ohio?
You can only set off fireworks on your own property or another private property with the owner’s permission. The law allows municipalities to opt-out or restrict the dates and times, so be sure to double check the rules with your local officials.
It’s about a 2-minute show that starts about 30 minutes after the park officially closes. It oftentimes will play more than once and includes a brief narration piece, twinkling lights, and the music “When You Wish Upon a Star”.The concerts are also free, but, depending on the act or the time of year, seats can be competitive. There are dining packages available that can guarantee you a seat:
What time are the fireworks in Buda Texas?
Time Details: Children’s Bike Parade line up at 8:30 a.m. Parade begins at 9:00 a.m. Morning activities from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Downtown Buda Greenbelt Night time activities from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Buda Sportsplex Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m.
Keep in mind that depending on when the park closes each day, it might not be dark enough for the Tree of Life Awakenings to run. Animal Kingdom is known for closing the earliest out of all the theme parks and sometimes it’s still daylight when it does.Make sure that if you are standing near or under a tree that you’ll be able to see into the sky above where the barges sit on the water. Some of the trees hang out over the water and cut of the view of the sky. There are several countries where buildings jut out into the water, and if you are on the wrong side of them, you’ll have part (or all) of your view of the projections and fire works cut off.
What day is trick or treat in Zanesville Ohio?
Beggar’s Night in Zanesville will officially be the night of Halloween, Oct. 31, from 5:30-7 p.m.
As for the new fireworks coming to Epcot, all we know is the show will “unite us through commonalities of the heart in a dazzling display of fireworks, lasers, music, and light.” Per Disney, it “will remind us that we’re more alike than different, connecting our hearts together as one.”
Just like at Magic Kingdom, the goal is to find a spot where there is nothing between you and where the action is taking place, which, for Epcot, is the center of the World Showcase Lagoon. As long as you can see both the sky above the barges and the barges themselves clearly, you’ll have a good view.
In addition to the Beacons of Magic, Spaceship Earth often has a special light and music show for whatever festival is currently taking place. If one of these are playing during your visit, we highly recommend you check it out as it is just an overall lovely (and peaceful) experience.
The front of the park (near the Main Street Train Station) can give you great views of the fireworks, but if you are watching a projection-heavy show (like Happily Ever After) you won’t see the details on Cinderella Castle. That may not matter to you, but if you want the full effect, that far away isn’t going to work.
The best of the best fireworks viewing spots can go early. And during busy times of the year (like the holidays), there can be some serious competition for the prime locations. If it DOES return, the best view can be found near the Chinese Theater because the show involves projections and pyrotechnic effects in addition to the fireworks. So to get the full effect, you will need to be in front of the projection towers.I have a question that I see was previously asked, but I don’t see a response. Can Fantastic and Star Wars fireworks be seen on the same night? I would consider purchasing a desert package for Star Wars if we can get to the ‘spot’ after Fantastic.Unlike Magic Kingdom where the action has a definite front side, the fireworks at Epcot can be viewed from nearly 360 degrees around World Showcase Lagoon.
Keep in mind, however, that some shows happen during specially ticketed events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, both of which cost extra.
Your goal is to see Cinderella Castle as clearly as possible. If trees are blocking out most of the castle (or in the case of shows that are primarily fireworks, the sky), that isn’t going to be a great view.
You may not notice them during the day, but there are several islands out in the middle of the World Showcase Lagoon and during the show, if there is an island between you and the fireworks, you’ll have your view blocked.
Trying to decide how early you should be looking for a spot for fireworks at Epcot? Just like with Magic Kingdom fireworks, you’ll need to consider these 3 things:
Since it’s not a large area, your best bet is to find a spot about 45 minutes beforehand. Once you pick a viewing location, members of your party can come and go to use the restroom, get snacks, etc.You will probably want to see at least 1 or 2 of the nighttime entertainment options during your Disney World trip, but there are some locations to view these shows that are better than others.
Where is Disney World fireworks?
The only 2 parks with full firework shows are Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Hollywood Studios has shows that incorporate a few firework elements, but because of the animals, Animal Kingdom has no fireworks.

Local communities maintain the authority to change or keep their trick-or-treat date and time. In the event of inclement weather, the recommended date will likely not change.
One of the reasons trick or treat isn’t held on Friday and Saturdays in most communities is due to safety concerns of higher prevalence of impaired drivers on the weekends while kids are walking around in the dark. Many communities opt to use the recommendations from MORPC (Mid Ohio Regional Planning Commission). Local government members support a unified trick-or-treat date for the region.

Mechanicsburg October 31, 6:00-8:00. Mechanicsburg’s trick or treat for local residents will occur annually ON Halloween – October 31st. The only exception to this rule occurs with 10/31 falls on a Friday. In those years, Trick or Treat will take place on that Thursday, 10/30.
Another concern is conflicts with high school and college football games. Many smaller communities have large turnouts for high school football games, so people aren’t home on Friday nights. College football also poses a conflict (and potentially high traffic during home games), along with safety concerns of drivers.Schedule is subject to change and cancellation. Many communities WILL NOT rescheduled due to bad weather. We’ve added links so you can keep up with any change.

Are the Disney fireworks every night?
On January 27, 2023, the all new Wondrous Journeys will debuted for the Disney’s 100th Celebration. It will run at the following times: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday – 9:30pm (with projections only) Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – 9:35pm (with projections and fireworks)
They do have one option that offers a slight view of the show, however, if the fireworks are cancelled, you won’t receive your money back. This is the Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge. Think of this option as a lounge to hang out in with yummy food and sometimes a character visit that MAY INCLUDE fireworks viewing.I haven’t shared much about this, as I don’t want to induce panic in anyone, but the world has gone mad, so now I’m saying it. Before the world went crazy, I watched from this favorite spot and will make every effort to now….especially when my kids are with me.
Winds can often make fireworks (and the ashes that result from them) too dangerous for the Anaheim area, causing them to be cancelled with very little notice. For that reason, Disneyland does not offer the dining packages like WDW has.
The fireworks show will most often run nightly at 9:30pm. There are no dining packages that coordinate with this show, however, I share how to incorporate fireworks into your Fantasmic! dining package plans if it’s running on the same night. On our last trip to Disneyland, we missed the fireworks and were disappointed. We visited on weekdays though, during September, and there weren’t any fireworks those nights. We are hoping to see them on our next trip we are planning for February. Do they only run on weekends, or does it change depending on the time of year?
High winds (which aren’t noticeable to us on the ground) can cause fireworks to become extremely dangerous for neighboring houses that are just beyond the parks. Disneyland – from what I understand – doesn’t even make the call. The Fire Marshall decides if it’s safe or not.
Hi, I’ll be going to Pixarfest in June- I have a question about whether I’d be able to watch the fireworks in the reserved viewing spot from my Paint the Night Dining package after the parade? Or do we need to move? I’m worried cuz by then it’d be pretty close to the start time of the fireworks, & there wouldn’t be any good spots left. Any advice? ThnxTypically you’ll see Fantasmic! prior to fireworks from the Rivers area. Once it finishes, set up immediately. That’s just about 10 minutes prior to fireworks starting.
If you don’t have a park ticket to enter Disneyland or simply don’t want to deal with the crowds, consider these alternate options for watching fireworks:
This is ‘Fantas-mic’ advice, thank you. I had no idea projections are also shown on Small World and Rivers of America – I’m for sure going to head for those spots next fireworks show, less crowded and a fun new perspective! Please don’t misunderstand me. I do not feel unsafe inside the Disneyland Resort. Not at all. Disney Security is phenomenal and I return to these parks because of that. But, the world is crazy. I know every square inch of Disneyland (slight exaggeration) and even with that knowledge, I wouldn’t feel safe trying to flea a crowd on Main Street or in front of the castle. Not with a double stroller or any stroller, really. “it’s a small world” is on the perimeter of the parks and feels safest to me overall. “it’s a small world” is where I would pick for families again and again. There’s room to spread out and it’s consistently the least crowded option. (Scroll back a bit where I detail what’s around this area, including restrooms, snacks, how to keep kids busy and more.) As a mother, I’m always sensitive to exits and where I would go if something sparked the large crowd of people to move suddenly and forcefully. I have visited the parks hundreds of times with a double stroller and three kids on my own. I’ve considered many situations like this over the years and what capabilities I had if I were in a tough situation. It varies throughout the year and from year to year. February is one of the lowest crowd months of the year, so it sometimes includes a break in entertainment. When that happens, fireworks are often the first thing to be taken off the list.If I were visiting with kids, I still wouldn’t go through the fuss of competing for a spot in this location. I really wouldn’t without kids, either. Choose it’s a small world or along the Rivers of America instead. Both of those options will incorporate the same projections that you would see shown onto the castle.
